Abstract

As a general rule, election is one of the most prominent democratic means for the transfer of power according to the different contemporary political systems and their different forms and ideas (ideologies) on which they are based. That is why we find that elections have become an arena for political struggles, and elections are also relied upon in order to know the extent of political changes in society. Through elections, political parties can control the appropriate environment to expand their audiences and reach their goal (power), and here, election laws play an active role in regulating the process of competition for access to power, Including the political forces obtaining the popular majority that the electoral laws deem necessary to achieve the parliamentary majority and then obtain the parliamentary majority that enables him to reach power.             In our modest research, we will address this electoral system in the Iraqi experience in the light of the Iraqi Parliament Elections Law No. (9) of 2020 by explaining the concept of election and the parties to the election process, the electorate and the elected, and we will address the electoral mechanisms used according to the new Iraqi Parliament Elections Law No. (9) for the year 2020.
